We got to go to Indy! I was so afraid of having to cancel because of illness...but Suzy improved through the day last Sunday, so we hit the road. I will let the pictures tell the highlights of the trip we made.
Of course the reason for the trip was to go to Jack's neurologist appointment. Everything looks good for him, and our Dr. had encouraging things to say. Dr. McGuire is a such a genuine & sincere doctor. She loves her job and kids, you can tell that by how she interacts with Jack and our other kids. I love her sense of humor and her down to earth personality. She told us that statistics show when kids like Jack who have a normal MRI (meaning no masses or cysts on the brain) but an abnormal EEG is abnormal (meaning a tendency towards seizures -with no explanation of why they happen) Usually there is a 50%-60% chance that the child will outgrow them. She also encouraged us by telling us when the seizure happens in the front of the brain, like Jack's~ there is a better chance of outgrowing then. Also his prognoses is good, because he does well at being seizure free on only one medicine and on a low dose of the medicine he takes. All things that remind me how much I have to be thankful for. He has been seizure free for 10 months! Praise God! So for right now he will stay on his current dosage and re-visit the neurologist in 6 months. Jack will need to be seizure free for 2 years before the Dr. will take him off of medicine. So very much to be thankful for this Christmas season. My heart is completely full, for healthy children that are asleep in their beds tonight and seizures that are a distant memory.
While in Indy at Cracker Barrel for breakfast...
William: "Are we going to pray? I know it's going to be embarrassing but we gotta do it."
Donovan: "William it's not embarrassing. This is a Christian nation, lots of people pray."
William: "o.k. well let's do it."

That is such good news. I also love the candid remarks by the boys....we got to do, ha. You guys are great parents and it shows in your children.
Such wonderful news!! healthy kids is the best gift anyone could ever ever give you. Knowing they will be okay and not worrying about the worse case scenario even when you try not to. Great doctors are another blessing. You are right about having so much to be thankful for....a beautiful family, great friends, and a wonderful future ahead. :))))
That's great to hear! I love how you made the trip fun for them :)
Such good news. God has so much for us, so much good, and so much grace to handle the not so good. I love being His.
The Cracker Barrel comments are priceless. Wouldn't the world be "funner" if we all thought the way kids do?
Heather,
So glad your little guy is doing better. Love the family stories you shared!
Yay for no more seizures, and what encouraging things your neurologist had to say! What a tremondous relief for your family! We have been to numerous neurologists with our daughter, and I've found either they are wonderful, or they completely lack any bedside manner. I never imagined our life would include neurologist appts and EEG's...and I'm sure you didn't either. Being a parent can be so hard! So glad you had good news! :)
Yeah, about the great news of seizure free! Good job, Jack! And I like what Wanita said how you guys made the trip fun...it just wasn't all about Jack's appt. So true, what William said. I, too am sometimes self conscious of praying out in public but we do it. And I like how Donovan responded. You guys have the perfect looking family. Wonderful Dad & Mom team with 2 handsome boys & 2 beautiful girls! Many blessings to your family as you bring in another New Year! Hopefully I'll get to "run" into you guys again soon!
